Customer Ratings and Reviews
Another Good Woods Product, 15 May 2009
By Retired and Loving It "JP in Iowa"
Purchased this item and Woods 13568. This is a single control unit that has a higher voltage and wattage ratings than the 13568 necessary for larger electrical items you may want to control. Easy to use and has worked great so far. If you order more than one, you might have problems with channels. Mine is programmed for Channel C which means there must be units with Channel A and Channel B. Ratings on this unit are 13Amp Resistive, 13A General Purpose and 1000 Watt Tungsten. Operational distance so far is about 90 feet. One good feature with Woods products as compared to some of the other like items is that they come with battery installed.
Exactly as advertised, 27 December 2009

I bought a couple of these to remotely control my Christmas lights in December, and my fountain pump in the Summer. They work great. I really like the separate on/off buttons as it makes it easy to know that I'm turning things on or off when I blindly point them out the window and press a button a couple of times.
Fixing a poor range., 08 October 2011

Out of the box my unit operated OK up to about 15 feet. Following one review I opened the unit, took the coiled antenna and wound it around the inside perimeter of the device. Now it worked up to about 20 feet. So I got brave, drilled a small hole, and pulled most of the antenna outside. Now I got a range of about 30 feet. Finally, I hooked about 50 feet of wire to the end of the antenna. Now I get a range of nearly 100 feet. A note to the manufacturer: How hard would it be to add a terminal for an optional extra antenna?
Two notes: If weather is an issue seal the hole; I don't believe that adding antenna length to a RECEIVER violates any FCC regulations.
Great, inexpensive solution, 05 September 2010

I bought this so I could easily turn on the pump for my backyard waterfall. The pump had been plugged into an outdoor outlet, and I'd had to squeeze between the edge of the lower pool and the bushes, being careful not to dislodge any of the decorative rocks. The Woods outlet plugs into the one on the house wall, then the pump plugs into it. The handy keychain remote turns the power on and off. Works like a charm, even from inside the house.
I've seen other, more expensive products that serve this purpose - they have more features. But this one does the only thing I need it to do, and it was inexpensive.

I'm using it outside to remotely start and stop a 1/2 HP motor and it works fine.

I bought this item to save some money on my electric bill. We have a compact fridge in a guest area. Typically, there isn't anything in the fridge, and I didn't want to run an empty fridge for weeks at a time. So I wanted to be able to cut it on and off without having to pull it out from it's snug slot under the counter and between the cabinets. I pulled out the fridge, put the outlet in place, plugged up the fridge, and slid back in, with much cursing (I told you, it's snug). With a push of a button, I can now switch this fridge on and off. I can't attest to any outdoor function of the outlet, but it has worked perfectly as a solution to my energy savings issue.
poor range easily fixed, 06 July 2011
By Andrew R. Morris
My unit had a range of about 30 feet and transmitter orientation was critical above about 15 feet. The antenna wire inside was neatly curled into a tight coil. I straightened the wire out and looped the wire one time around the interior of the enclosure as was done in an earlier version of the product. I cut off the excess wire. The range is now about 60+ feet. DO NOT plug the unit in while the enclosure is open. This may void the warranty, but the thing is so cheap that the warranty isn't worth the trouble.
Remote control switch, 27 July 2010

I use this switch to control the electric fence around my decorative waterfall. Neighborhood dogs and visiting racoons would tear up plantings in the pond at the base of my waterfall, so I put in an electric fence. This switch allows me to easily turn off the fence so I can maintain the pond. Works great.
Works ok, although can be prone to interference, 18 January 2010

54g laptop interrupted this thing. It was the only radio device in the area, so I'm guessing that was the reason the button didn't work. Had to move a few feet, and it worked again. Good build quality. Comparing to the other choices on Amazon for this type of device, I'm very happy with this one.

Product works as advertized. I use it to remotely control an outdoor security light aside my house. Remote switch works from at least 50 ft from the unit while in my car; maybe farther but I haven't tried from a greater distance. Installs easily. Instructions don't mention that you have to remove a small strip of clear plastic from the edge of the remote so that battery and one of the contacts can touch. I thought I had a dead battery because unit wouldn't switch on and off. Then saw the small clear strip tucked in the edge of the remote. Might buy another [w/ a different channel] to control Christmas lights.
