Along with the Oroweat Country Potato, this stuff is magical in its ability to outlast its own expiration date.
...And when I say 'outlast' the expiration date, I mean that right now it's mid-May, and I've got two loaves of bread sitting in my cupboard with 'best by' dates of early March. They still taste perfect, they're still soft, and there hasn't been even a hint of mold yet. I honestly don't understand how it's possible if they're not loaded with preservatives. I expect this sort of magic from McDonald's food, but not this bread (or Oroweat).
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I forgot the bread was in there and thought that I had wasted it all, only to find that it was perfect (miraculously). I'm excited and hope that my bread lives with me for many more happy weeks, but that doesn't mean I'm not curious about how the hell it's managed to stay good this long. Also, this is the greatest buttered-toast bread ever.
